Hi, I'm Frances McInerney (or Fran). You're probably wondering how a millennial wound up back in her childhood bedroom as a caregiver for her Dad?

I was living and going to grad school in Brooklyn when my family received some truly life-altering news: my Dad had been diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s disease. After the initial shock and feelings of disappointment subsided, my Mom and I got to work. She took charge of the financial and legal decisions while I, a speech-language pathologist, looked for ways to maintain his communication and daily living activities. I knew we wouldn’t be able to nurse him back to health (Alzheimer’s disease has no cure) but I could figure out ways to make his life as meaningful as possible.

The past few years have been an EXPERIENCE, with lots of learning and lots of big feelings. Being a caregiver can be humbling and rewarding but also a very lonely place. I hope this website and blog not only provides you with information but is also a space to feel loved and supported during your own caregiving experience.
